Delhi Guy..O Delhi Guy

O Delhi guy O Delhi guy
Why are you acting all so high

Reading my words every now & then
That’s fine, but where are your opinions

Stop sneeking, stop hiding
Come upfront, don’t be shy

Who you are,what you are
How will I know unless you try

Yes Iam quite serious
Stop acting so mysterious

These lines are my passwords
You are smart, unveil them O nerd

Have the guts to break the ice
Playing hide & seek, is not so nice

When will the time come, when will I see
I will get to know you & you will get to know me

Spell Of Love

Wish I could cast a spell on you
And make you closer to me
Wrapped-in a coil called LOVE
We are the ones can’t you see

My spell would be soft
My spell would be blue
A puff of magic
Meant only for YOU

My spell will trap you
In such a way
No matter where you go
With you I will stay

As the days pass
My spell on you will grow
What you have meant to me so far
Now you will know

Only then will I be happy
Only then will I joy
When the spell proves
My lovely ploy

"Yes" he said to me
With his impish smile
I always did love you
But it took me a little while

O magic spell !  O magic spell !
aabra-ka-dabra..here I yell
Thank you, I have his love now
Go & knock on some other girl’s doorbell

May she also find her love & life
And soothe her heart’s burn
For I know how it feels
When a love is not returned

The awesome ways I flunk my Interviews...

Much as I hate taking orders from people, a regular job definitely sounds like a safer option. I often end up giving interviews, more out of necessity than general market scanning for my candidature :)
So in one more such attempt to grab my dream job I decided to appear for an interview with a reputed company. But....

The Problem

Unfortunately a day before the interview my PG owner suddenly decided to renovate
our entire flat
Although they had informed us before hand, I didn’t realise that the scheduled interview might clash with day of renovation.
So here I was preparing for the interview sitting right at the center of all the clutter & a upside down flat.

The D-Day

The next day finally dawned with me running around, rummaging the entire house trying to get ready. The interview was scheduled during the first half of the day.
Just as I was about to leave, it occurred to me that something was missing….Oh lord, the Gold Earrings!!
Should I wait & search for it or leave - I was already running late. I hardly did have any other choice than to forget about the earrings & run for the interview, which was precisely what I did.

But the issue kept playing in my mind.

The Goof up

Inspite of my troubled mind, the interview started well. After clearing some of the initial questions I relaxed and so did the interviewer. Then we chatted generally about different company policies and workplace atmosphere. He also started telling me about his own experiences in his earlier companies. By now I had become comfortable with the way the interview was going and thought maybe this is where it ends or is about to end.

But for some reason the guy bounced back with this age-old question “ So tell me, what do you know about our company?”

Ok..so I was prepared with the answer but just as I was about to answer it, his phone rang with a loud shrill. He said “Excuse me”. I said “Sure” and sat there thinking particularly nothing, waiting for his call to end.
While he was busy on the call my mind wandered back to the issue of the earring – Where did I keep it. In the drawer..No…In the cupboard …No..umm..ohh right…the red purse inside my second favourite handbag. There it was. It did finally occur to me but now the question was, where exactly was that favourite purse…oh lord..not again

“ So we were discussing something about the company, ok, so where were we?” the interviewer asked

“umm..err” I faked a smile

He smiled back…though weirdly

“Sir…your company is truly great…it is a well known brand and and..umm err..”

“Well, that is something we already know..tell me something new” he said

“ You provide personalised services to customers and umm err” I fumbled, my mind was blank due to the sudden shift from the earring to the Company topic.

I somehow mumbled something and completed the question. By now, the interviewer had stopped prodding me since it was obvious that I was going nowhere. Although even he was surprised as to what happened to chatterbox Me.
After some uncomfortable moments he told me that they will get back to me shortly. So I thanked him & left kicking & cursing myself hundred times over.

By the end of the day, I was sure of 2 things:

Firstly,I knew that I was certainly not getting that job and
Secondly….I will never again wear that jinxed gold earring..I hated it by now.

I should be so Lucky..Lucky…Lucky

Well, let me tell you one thing,  just for the record. I never get a job without messing up the interview…. Meaning I have to truly ruin it, to get that Job.
So as the above Kylie Minogue number goes, I had every reason to call myself lucky. Even with all the pessimistic thinking & negative self analysis, I actually did get the call for the next, final round.

And I guess all’s well that ends well.

Lights, Camera ..... Action

As the one month long back-to-back shooting for my company’s cookery show comes to a finish, I couldn’t help but recollect the Me, before this whole affair with the camera began.

Being a part of the marketing team of an established health & wellness organization certainly requires more versatility than I had ever credited myself for.
It began with my company signing a certain number of episodes with a renowned production house & a food channel.

Our MD wanted atleast three member of the marketing team to be present for the shoot. And I was selected as one of them.

So, on my first day for the shoot I entered the sets like a puppy lost in the crowd. But once I got the hang of it, this is how I decided to portray my dynamic personality

  • Never arrived on time for shooting…to be just in line with the stars
  • Never took my eyes off all the cute production house guys
  • Never gave the scriptwriter a moment of peace…always meddled in between their ideas
  • Never had lunch on time…..and roamed about feeling bloated
  • Never settled in one place for more than 10 minutes at a stretch
  • Always applied a deo since the AC had been put off throughout the shooting due to some weird complication between the cooking smoke hindering the camera
  • Always arrived in my best clothes even if it meant spoiling them in the dust on the sets
  • Always kept smiling…whether I understood something or not…yes like a madwoman
  • Always befriended the make-up artists & tricked them to work my face or hair

This being my first experience with the dream world, was really excited about the whole idea. And believe me it was worth it..and more..

Age Difference Does Make A DIFFERENCE !!

Recently I heard this bolly-gossip that a certain Ms Frieda Pinto is planning to get engaged to her boyfriend Dev Patel. It reminded me of a friend of mine.

Three years ago he got married (and is still happily married). You might ask me what the big deal out here is. People do get married right? Well in this case the guy was 24 and the girl was 30. The guy was one of those few lucky people who get early financial success in their careers. The only thing missing in his life was love.
He met his life-partner during some official meeting. Everything about them matched hobbies, goals, values, sense of humour, taste in food and even their communities were the same which was a stringent requirement by the guy’s mother. And as his mother wanted a daughter-in-law belonging to their own community, she too relented after some convincing.

The girl on the other hand hardly looked or behaved like a 30 year old. She had a perpetually youthful constitution of the kinds of a Riya sen or a Reese Witherspoon (I am sure she can conveniently pull off a Legally Blonde part-III even at 36).
So in other words the guy was lucky since except for the age factor he hardly had to compromise on anything else.

However, not everyone is this lucky. Most couples with age differences, who went down the aisle, had to face a very bitter end of their relationship.

Below are some examples of such failed marraiges:

1. Ashton-Demi: Kuchter the Butcher killed the relationship mercilessly-(15 yrs gap)
2. Madonna and Guy Ritchie – (10 yrs gap)
3. Courtney Cox and David Arquette (8 yrs gap)

For those who do not believe in age being a bar in their relationship, here are some awesome and successful marriages:

1. Farah khan and Shirish Kunder – (8 yrs gap)

2. Sachin Tendulkar and Anjali Tendulkar – (5 yrs gap)

3. Gwyneth Paltrow and Chris Martin- (5 yrs gap)

In today's day and age, it’s very tough to come across people who are on the same wavelength as you. So, you really can’t afford to be picky about age. I truly feel that despite all these disparities, marriages can work if:

  • Both want it to work.
  • Both love, trust, and respect each other.
  • Adjust to and understand each other's needs, and
  • Are there for each other no matter what comes along the way.
Everything depends upon the people involved, you can either deal with what life gives you or you cannot, age is not the issue, the mind of the two in the relationship is the issue, you could be 30 days different and still have the same issues you are having.

Shiney to Slimy Ahuja

Shiney Ahuja, who is doing everything other than SHINE, is in news once again and this time one more girl is accusing him of sexual harassment.

The actor who started his career with Hazaaroon Kwaishein aisi, took the title too seriously and went on to fulfil his personal ‘kwaishes’ with his household maid. At the time when this news was taking rounds I gave the guy some benefit of doubt and assumed that the maid must be a gold digger and was doing this on purpose. But a recent news broke my naïve assumption into shreds.

Sayali Bhagat, a less known actress who is working with the actor in one of his upcoming films( don’t know how he still gets films) has accused the actor of trying to act fresh with her during the shoot. She was also contemplating to go legal with the issue.

As soon as his wife Anupam heard of her claims she along with her husband started harassing the girl so that she calls off her threat to go legal with the issue.
Lets see how Sayali decides to deal with this issue. Or may be who knows all this is just some sordid publicity stunt.

More than anything else I am worried about his wife Anupam who seriously needs a bravery award for standing by a husband who is as slippery as a Toad.
Being a girl I personally fail to understand the psyche behind such blind loyalty. It reminds me of quote by Bettina Arndt,

Traditionally, marriage involved a kind of bartering, rather than mutual inter-dependence or role sharing. Husbands financially and economically supported wives, while wives emotionally, psychologically and socially supported husbands. He brought home the bacon, she cooked it. He fixed the plumbing, she the psyche.”

Well now since she has decided to put up with him emotionally, psychologically & socially she’d better fix up something to support him physically other than just Baai’s.

Satya Sai Baba's rise after death

Read the TOI article stating that Satya Sai Baba will rise on the third day after his death just like Jesus Christ. The third day falls on Wednesday. His followers' immense faith has me sit up and take notice of this believe.Though was just trying to visualize the scenario if this believe comes true. Just imagine how will the medical science practitioners'  react to this modern day miracle.
His last rituals are slated to be performed on Wednesday, so what will happen if he suddenly becomes alive. Amidst those preparation if one suddenly realizes that his lifeless form is showing some movement of life in it how will they react?
Can't wait for Wednesday any longer...
With Due Respect....Waiting

Hope is.....

Hope is when river flows
Sometimes serene, sometimes aggressive
Against the unruly windy blows

Hope is one more Sunday
Late to come but quickly gone
Lazy but week’s fun-day

Hope is when I see u smile
Clear, bright and carefree
Wide enough to bridge over Nile

Hope is falling asleep calm & serene
Knowing here comes one more night
Another chance to complete my daydream

Hope is planning for the future again
Knowing nothing lasts and everything is uncertain
But wishing all the same

Hope is your life’s only stance
It brings you another chance
To dream, drink and have a carefree dance

The season of the cold creams and hot soups is on full swing, making us lethargic like never before. Getting out of bed seems like a big task making looking good and  maintaining your beauty routine something like a mission impossible.
But then there is a price for everything in life….same applies to having a great skin and hair!

Here are few tips which will make sure that you have a sooth sailing winter:

1.Diet
Eat lots of protein rich foods like Paneer, Chicken, Eggs, Soyabean, nuts and other dairy products. Have lots of hot soups to boost your immune system to fight against the cold weather. Also take Cod liver oil supplements.

2.Water

Even though you might not feel the need to have it still force yourself to have atleast 8-10 glasses of water daily. It rinses out your system well.

3.Oil Bath
Massage oil over entire body and let it stay for as long as possible- minimum 30 minutes then have a bath with luke warm water. Do this atleast once a week.

Also, you can pour some oil in bath water and use it directly for bathing.

4.Moisturize

Never step out without a moisturizer. Also, invest in a good over night cream and apply it after cleansing thoroughly.

5.Exfoliate

Use a mixture of oil with sugar crystals to exfoliate. Rub this mixture onto your body before bath for 5-10 mins then carry on with your normal bath routine.

6.Exercise

Constantly staying cuddled up inside the quilt will do no good for your blood circulation. Doing atleast half an hour of aerobics everyday will not only support your muscles but bring that much desired pinkish glow to your face.

7.Winter Beauty Packs

a. For Glow and Anti-Dryness

Take Milk cream, add honey, almond oil and few drops of lime juice.
Mix this paste thoroughly and apply on entire face and neck. Keep it for 15 mins and wash off using luke warm water.

8.Cold

Winter’s biggest curse are the cruel wave of cold and cough that catch us unawares. They are a true bummer to the otherwise excellent weather.
Make sure to eat lots of Vitamin C found in- Indian Gooseberries , oranges and lemon to help fight against the cold.

9.For Hair

First of all do not wash your hair very frequently during winters. Take regular hair spa treatment available in any of the good beauty parlour in your area. For home care follow as given below

Apply warm olive oil and massage for 15 mins. Keep it overnight and wash off in the morning.

Apply a mixture of eggs with curd and lemon juice as hair pack during winters

10.Lips

Make sure that you exfoliate your lips atleast once a week. Take a soft tooth brush, dip it in warm water and without using toothpaste gently brush your lips. Follow this tip with a soothing and quality lip balm, you can also use vaseline. Besides, ensure that whatever lip gloss you use, it should have moisturizing features.

How to keep yourself happy

1.Engage:
Maintain a hobby. It can be house cleaning, reading, dancing, crafts, writing etc., anything absolutely. It doesn’t matter as long as it keeps you completely happy and sufficiently occupied.

2. Music

Here’s what I have done.
Made a collection of all the sad songs I had and kept them aside. Then I made a separate section wherein I had only romantic or dance numbers in other words music with happier notes in them.
So now whenever I am sad, angry or generally emotional I make it a point to listen to one of those energetic and rhythmic numbers. They immediately make me feel emotionally elated and bright.
Life has enough problems without us making it even more complicated by listening to sad songs.

3. Grouch Syndrome

Maintain a great circle of close friends. But those who have this constant habit of being pessimistic all the time, can do without your companionship. Remove all those grouches who never let you let go off your failures.

4. Self Help

Although some might not agree but I personally feel that reading self help books can truly boost your will power and efficiency. They provide you with perfect examples which can be easily related to our everyday struggles.

5. Pets

Pets are an amazing source of positive energy. Their capacity to impart unconditional love and playful nature never allows you to feel alone.

6. Diet

Study has proved that high calorie diet like chocolates, fried food, desserts etc can elate your mood instantly.
So next whenever you feel low, go ahead and indulge and give in to your favourite food craving.

7. Yoga

Invest atleast 20 mins of your time doing Yoga.
Deep breathing and meditation also helps in relaxing the mind thus removing stress.

8. Value & Appreciate

Learn to value and appreciate even the smallest of gifts of life. Be thankful for all the people (no matter how small the number) who are there in your life. Never take them for granted and acknowledge their presence by doing something simply for them.

9. Day Dream

This is something I do 24x7…and believe me I never get time to be Bored, sad or gloomy.
Always set a goal and then as often as possible visualize yourself actually achieving it.  Your life will automatically start shaping slowly but steadily to the way you wanted it to be.

10. Be Patient

Remember there is always a next time. Don’t take life too seriously it will not do you any good. Hence stop being hard on yourself, just focus on your goals and keep going with the flow.

Everyday is not the same hence there will be days when you will feel low, just accept it as a part of life and make these amends to deal with them.

Certificate lamination

As a precaution one is advised to laminate all your degree certificates the moment they are issued, to protect them from withering away. For me however, it was one of those tasks which were nowhere in my priority list since I have this habit to constantly keep work pending for the eleventh hour till  the deadline is secured  tightly around my neck .

Finally after much crabbiness I was able to overcome my years’ of laziness and walk up to the store to get my certificates laminated.

Since it was a little time consuming process I got myself a comfortable chair and sat in one corner. And almost involuntarily started going through all those years of hard work that had resulted in those certificates.

It suddenly made me feel nostalgic and brought back all those unwanted feelings of sleepless nights preparing for the exams.

Life is truly strange ..…. even after all these years you can still feel smell of those school days.
